About Us

Only six percent of South Los Angeles residents ages 25 and older have a four-year degree or higher. This U.S. Census statistic has been a great motivation for our collaborative to continue our work helping prepare students for college and university admissions--at no cost to parents or students.

The result is a free SAT-prep workshop providing four hours of review and practice for all SAT sections--reading, math, writing/language and essay, plus test-taking tips and strategies for achieving a higher score. The last section of the five-hour workshop features college and community advisors providing information on college admissions and financial aid application processes.

Our instructor Study Smart Tutors offers lessons that are engaging and interactive and detailed in getting to the heart of what it takes to get a high SAT score. All students receive materials for continued SAT-prep studies and college and career planning.

The free SAT-prep workshop is sponsored by Each One, Teach One and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center. The nonprofit agencies have been working together since 2013 to provide SAT-prep for more than 150 high school students per year.

We thank our partners and donors for their support providing the facilities, materials, refreshments, instruction, advisement, outreach and more to help increase the number of South Los Angeles students attaining higher education and achieving their goals in life.
